Parrott Family Christmas Program

For over 20 years the Parrott family has been Ringing in the Christmas Season in Paradise.  Started as a way to say "thank you" to Dr. Harvey Parrott's patients and friends and family it has become a tradition for many as a way to spend the Saturday after Thanksgiving and get in the mood for Christmas.

Karen and Harvey Parrott's 5 children, 17 grand-children, and sons and daughters-in-law come together to produce an evening of music to invite the Spirit of the Savior who's birthday we celebrate on Christmas.  The show features handbells and a number of variety acts for a fun-filled evening appropriate for all ages.

Don't miss this show, it's a great way to start the Christmas season. A show for the entire family to enjoy!

You can get $1.00 general seating tickets in our office or $10.00  reserved seating online. Call our office for more details.

Why Are My Teeth Yellow?

Teeth tend to naturally discolor as we age, but besides that, there are several different ways for teeth to become discolored. Some of the causes of darkened teeth are genetics, antibiotics, and certain foods. Internal tooth discoloration is caused by changes in the enamel of the tooth and the dentin. External tooth discoloration is caused mainly by foods and tobacco. The main causes of tooth yellowing are smoking, foods with tannins, coffee, tea, carrots, oranges, and other foods. To avoid excessive yellowing, stay away from these factors, and brush daily.

Good Food Choices for Good Dental Health

The best food choices for the health of your mouth include cheeses, chicken or other meats, nuts, and milk. These foods are thought to protect tooth enamel by providing the calcium and phosphorus needed to remineralize teeth (a natural process by which minerals are redeposited in tooth enamel after being removed by acids).
Other food choices include firm/crunchy fruits (for example, apples and pears) and vegetables. These foods have a high water content, which dilutes the effects of the sugars they contain, and stimulate the flow of saliva (which helps protect against decay by washing away food particles and buffering acid). Acidic foods, such as citrus fruits, tomatoes, and lemons, should be eaten as part of a larger meal to minimize the acid from them.

Welcome to our blog!

We're excited to announce the official launch of our Oroville Gentle Dentistry blog.

We'll be posting helpful dental tips, news from the dental industry, news from our practice, and more about the latest in dentistry.

We built our practice on the notion that we're there for our patients when they need us and we want our online presence to be a reflection of that principle. We hope this blog provides an extra level of service to our current and future patients.

Here's to your best oral health ever!
